It’s happening, it really is. I woke up this morning, a nice clear day. The birds were singing despite a light shower. Its seems like it has been raining all week. Today is important for two main reasons, one is that it is Memorial day in Rwanda where I have lived and worked for the last 8 years and that I must now abandon for Canada. Its a day of remembering those whose lives were so viciously taken and the heroes that gave up so much to make certain that it would never happen again.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for this country and the people. The seemingly never ending mantra of ‘onward, onward’. This has been my home, I have grown here in ways I could not have imagined and met some really good people. I know that while I am turning a page, my memories of Rwanda will remain firmly imprinted on my heart.
The other reason that I can’t help but be joyful today is that we are finally in the single digits. It is really happening. Next week, I will be heading off to Canada.
I made a video this morning and realised too late that I didn’t have the right editing software. baaaah. I’m going to go ahead and upload it as is, but I should be able to fix this when I have iMovie downloaded. Faster internet.. something else to look forward too.. yippee!
How ready I am? How ready I am!!? 🤦🏽♀️

Oh, hello! I loved your snippet video. We have our PPR as well and are waiting to do our landing some time next year. (Still time and jitters!) so good to read your blog and your video brought so many smiles. Thank you, for sharing.

Hi Shereen, Congrats on your PPR, When is your landing date?
I wasn’t sure then but I am glad I made that video, I remember how excited I was back then but at the same time it was all nerves because I knew I was taking such a big step.
I wish you all the best on your next chapter.
